"Nang Dahil Sa Pag-ibig" Prime Casts in a Photo Shoot

An upcoming teleserye for ABS-CBN is made official last Monday, January 23, as the prime casts of "Nang Dahil Sa Pag-ibig" did a photo shoot/announcement in ABS-CBN studio. The serye is top-billed by Piolo Pascual, Jericho Rosales, Maricar Reyes & Christine Reyes who was the recent one to join the casts. 

I believe some actors who will also be part of the show will be no less than Mr. Christopher De Leon, Denise Laurel and Rafael Rossel among others. No plot, story and character role descriptions are released yet for "Nang Dahil Sa Pag-ibig" but definitely, this is one big teleserye I'm sure everybody will look forward to this 2012.

City Hunter: Biggest Korean Drama premieres on ABS-CBN

Last Friday, Jan 20, ABS-CBN held an advance screening in Dolphy Theater for its newest Korean series “City Hunter”. The screening was attended by a few members of the press and bloggers and the fans of the series’ lead star, Lee Min Ho.  This is one of ABS-CBN’s pre-Chinese New Year offerings as there are many exciting shows lined-up for this year.

I’m actually one of those excited to watch the series since I saw the plug of “City Hunter”, on TV, it looks very promising and exciting.  The series is said to be one of the biggest and most expensive action, drama, suspense and romantic Korean series of 2011.  Plus Lee Min Ho looks really hot in the series as he prepared big for this project – he trained and buffed himself and keep fit as he did all the stunts. 

My excitement is no comparable to the fans that also came to watch the screening; they were very passionate and supportive of their Korean idol, Lee Min Ho. That’s why the network executives recognized the support and the phenomenal reaction of the fans when ABS-CBN finally announced the acquisition of City Hunter by having a special preview as a treat for them.

LEE MIN HO IS THE ‘CITY HUNTER’

ABS-CBN kicks off the year of the dragon with the much-awaited and biggest Korean drama “City Hunter” premiering this Monday (Jan 23) in Primetime Bida.

Taking the lead in this landmark Korean productions is Asian superstar Lee Min Ho who returns on Philippine primetime TV after his hit series “Boys Over Flowers,” and “Perfect Match” on ABS-CBN.

Playing as Min Ho’s leading lady is his rumored real-life girlfriend, Park Min Young.  The two reportedly fell in love while shooting the action-drama soap.

In the series, Min Ho plays the role of Johnny Lee, a charming and smarty young man who works at the Presidential residence called the Blue House.  Little did everyone know that behind his massive appeal to women, intelligence, and pleasing personality lies a son trained to kill and seek revenge for his father.  His mission is to make five politicians responsible for killing his father pay with their own lives.

Despite being a skilled assassin, the task wouldn’t be that easy for Johnny because he has to follow three rules on his mission – he can’t trust anyone, he can’t reveal his true identity, and he can’t fall in love.  All of these will be put to test when he meets Kim Na Na (Min Young), a body guard at the Blue House.  As Johnny unintentionally falls in love with Na Na, he must also choose which path to take.  Will he choose duty or love?

"Walang Hanggan" Advance Screening

The first week episodes of ABS-CBN’s new prime time series, “Walang Hanggan” is set to bring you glued to your seats as you begin to watch its primer today, January 16.   I was privileged to be invited to its advance screening last Saturday together with the main cast of the series and other members of the press held at the Cinema 6 of SM Megamall.

I was still overwhelmed and still in awe with our local actors with their awesome performances shown in the premiere episodes.  I would like to give highlights, in random orders, for the scenes and performances of the series’ characters I love the most.

Richard and Dawn 

            During the drama films’ reign in the 90’s, the Richard-Dawn team-up is indeed the most remarkable one. I’ve seen their movies because my mom and my aunts are super “kilig” about their love team.  I was a little younger then but I knew that they’re one of the most beautiful pairs I’ve seen in screen plus the chemistry is really undeniable. But even if they do a project together or not, Richard and Dawn are too great actors who will shine bright because they already have established acting careers in separate projects they did not to mention the awards they already have received.

            In Walang Hanggan, be ready to find that “kilig” again and you’ll be surprised to see that these two, despite the years and different lives (and partners) they had, are still capable of pulling-off the chemistry on screen. For all Goma-Dawn fans, the first episodes are sure to watch for.

Ms. Helen Gamboa

           

            Throughout the screening, the most l can remember is the character of Ms. Helen Gamboa as “Margaret Montenegro”.  I remember the director of the series said that he was, somehow, reluctant to pull the character off from Ms. Helen since she has to portray the major villain role, all because she’s genuinely very kind and soft-spoken person in real life. And we can agree to direk Jerry’s claim because during the presscon, she was really nice, sweet and very respectful when answering questions.

            But in the series, once again, she has made me a big fan of her. I first admired her at “Tayong Dalawa” giving support to the role of her daughter then played by Agot Isidro. But in “Walang Hanggan” I guess she’ll be able to gain “haters’ ten times of probably she gained from her last series.  She was great! She was awesome and I can’t wait for more of her.

            I do believe that Ms. Helen’s role in the series is really worth to win her awards, I’m cheering for her whoooot!

Ms. Susan Roces and Eddie Guttierez

            I’m not really old but I can still remember that they used to be husband and wife in some movies before and I thought then that they were indeed a real-life couple. In the series, a lot of us will be able to understand and somehow discover one “great love” we can actually relate at one point in our lives. The story of love and sacrifice of Virginia is indeed admirable, and how her decisions will affect the lives and destiny of the people she loves is something to watch out for.

            Anyway, seeing Mr. Eddie Guttierez in ABS-CBN’s show is like a “wow”, just saying :).

Coco Martin

            Fast forward to the next episodes, Coco’s portrayal of the lead role is again a lot of times proof that he is indeed the prince of primetime television’s royalty. He had me and millions of viewers in his portrayal in “Tayong Dalawa” and I have no doubt that he will fail in everything he will do especially now that one of his indie films have gone international and earned recognitions. Coco seems not acting in his scenes in "Walang Hanggan", everything he do seems real. He’s full of life and as always, fantastic! Even Richard Gomez and Ms. Helen Gamboa has nothing but good words for Coco in this series, how was that coming from two of the most respectable actors of the local showbiz industry? 

           

            Coco’s charm is unexplainable, he can capture every woman’s heart and he’ll make every girl swoons for him. 

Julia Montes   

            At first I thought she’s too young for Coco Martin and their team-up wont click because the age difference will surely be noticed. Good that Coco’s aura was able to resolve that concern. In their scenes, you would surely notice that but somehow, their acting skills helped Julia and Coco to deliver what the viewers want to see in this series.  Their story started in their childhood but the love blossomed in their pre-adult years so I guess the age gap is disregarded already, just be prepared with more “kilig” because the two is sure to give that in the coming episodes.

‘Walang Hanggan’ Captures the Hearts of TV Viewers this January 16

The highly-anticipated Primetime Bida drama series “Walang Hanggan” will finally premiere on January 16 (Monday), showcasing a powerhouse cast composed of two queens of Philippine cinema Susan Roces and Helen Gamboa; ‘eternal love team’ Richard Gomez and Dawn Zulueta; and the first onscreen team-up of Julia Montes and Coco Martin.

“Walang Hanggan” features the undying love that revolves around characters from three different generations: the love triangle among Virginia (Roces), Margaret (Gamboa), and John (Eddie Gutierrez); the ill-fated lovers Marco (Gomez) and Emily (Zulueta); and young sweethearts Daniel (Martin) and Katerina (Montes).

Roces expressed excitement over their newest series. She said, “I’m a fan of teleseryes myself, that’s why I’m very happy to be part of it. But what makes “Walang Hangan” more special is that this is Helen and I’s first-ever onscreen project.”

Meanwhile, Zulueta, who is set to revive love team with Gomez, took pride in the narrative that they will be offering to the audience. “The story was so great, that it was hard to turn down the role. Everyone can surely relate with the characters’ journey,” Zulueta mentioned.

While Zulueta and Gomez rekindle an old onscreen romance, Martin and Montes starts anew. Martin shared, “This is a new challenge for me since this is the first time that I’ll be doing a ‘full love story.’ But I’m getting inspiration from the fact that I’m working with the best actors and actresses of the industry.”

Completing the powerhouse cast are well-regarded actors Rita Avila, Melissa Ricks, Joem Bascon, and Paulo Avelino; with the special participation of Eddie Gutierrez and Joel Torre. The series is directed by Jerry Lopez Sineneng and Trina Dayrit.
